Cynthia Hudson, CPA

“Intentional service to others is an honor and privilege.  To care for others is the best work we can do.”

Cynthia joined Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith in 2005. She is a member in the tax area where her primary focus is small business and non-profit organizations to whom she provides tax compliance, tax planning and IRS notice resolutions. Cynthia is the “go to” person for Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) and IRS resolutions saving clients over $2.5 million.

Cynthia has over 20 years of experience in the accounting profession. Her colleagues and clients describe her as “bold but kind.” Helping solve tax problems brings a great deal of peace of mind to her clients. Being a small business accountant provides a constant stream of opportunities to solve problems that affect people personally.

Cynthia attributes much of her success to an abiding faith, an encouraging husband and growing up in a small business which developed a work ethic and perseverance that continues to guide her. Having grown up in a family-owned small business, she can easily relate to the joys and frustrations of owning a small business and is familiar with the issues facing the small business owner.

Cynthia grew up in Sheffield, Alabama. She makes her home in Madison where she and her husband attend church, enjoy being part of the Huntsville community, gardening and playing with grandchildren.
